Started in 2014 as part of Regional Arts & Culture Council-funded documentary project, SLANT Live Queer Storytelling is a Portland, Oregon-based series  that shares queer storytellers’ perspectives from all walks of life.

Past years’ SLANT storytellers have included GLAAD Award-winning comedian and actor, Joel Kim Booster, SF Sketchfest writer and performer, Irene Tu, Original Plumbing author, Cooper Lee Bombardier, Voz Alta’s, Joaquin Lopez, and many more. Each show, SLANT’s six storytellers share seven-minute stories about love, triumph, embarrassment, joy, and more.

SLANT* is unique among its peers in that it is 100% queer run and guests’ stories are not workshopped. SLANT stories are authentic queer voices and experiences — without the requirement to meet the expectations of any show producer.

Each year, SLANT has been honored to be chosen as editors’ picks in the Portland Mercury and the Willamette Week as well as being chosen (ahem, third) Best Storytelling Event in Portland in 2017.

*Tell all the truth but tell it slant — (1263)

By Emily Dickinson

Tell all the truth but tell it slant —

Success in Circuit lies

Too bright for our infirm Delight

The Truth's superb surprise

As Lightning to the Children eased

With explanation kind

The Truth must dazzle gradually

Or every man be blind —
